The Impact of Christ, the Truth, on my Bible Study

In order to know how any given part of the Bible relates to us, we must answer two prior questions: How does the text in question relate to Christ and how do we relate to Christ? Since Christ is the truth, God’s final and fullest word to mankind, all other words in the Bible are given their final meaning by him. The same Christ gives us our meaning and defines the significance of our existence in terms of our relationship to him.

Another way of stating that is that Jesus Christ is the one mediator between God and man (1 Tim 2:5). God’s word to us in the Bible is mediated to us through Jesus Christ. There is no direct word from the Father to you or me. Every word of the Father comes to us through the person and work of Jesus. Even the words of the Old Testament are mediated through Christ in that we only know what God is saying to us through them when we see them fulfilled in Christ.  –Graeme Goldsworthy, According to Plan, pp. 71-72
