Joba Driscoll?

As a Red Sox fan I was reluctantly watching the ALCS last night because for some reason baseball calms down our crying infant like nothing else.  Perhaps it’s the rapid pace of the game.  Anyway, the Yankees brought in Joba Chamberlain to try to hold on to the lead and go to their first World Series in 6 years.  Then it hit me…this guy is Mark Driscoll’s twin.  Pretty amazing actually.  And what’s more, both guys get heat for too much passion.  As a Sox fan who loves Christ, I’m hoping Driscoll has a longer, more effective career.

Great call. I would add that they’re both pretty good, but both severely over-rated :)

Perhaps. But welcome to the world of the American Celebrity. Gimmie a break, we make it so that guy Jarrod can’t even walk down the street because he dropped a bunch of weight and is always hawking Subway on my TV.

Hillarious!!! I’ve got to show Heather this.

  4. One thing though, Driscoll’s “Song of Soloman sermon,” was a strike out as far as I am concerned. Let’s hope the more he is up to bat he will start making some home runs. That can be said for all of us….huh!

    Love your blog, Erik!

I’m Red Sox fan too and it pains me to see the Yankees, but you are right that they look very close in looks.
    Funny.

My pastor is a Red Sox fan. I told him after watching Papelbon hit Adam Lind of Toronto with a pitch in the 9th after Lind had hit 3 HR’s, any sermon illustrations trying to equate virtue and the Red Sox would be met with boos and catcalls. BTW – Discoll is pushing 40 and Joba is, like, 23.

I’m sure your pastor is a terrific guy. You need to show him honor and part of that would be to like the right teams. He shouldn’t have to stay up late at night wondering about your disloyalty to the best baseball team. Especially in NY! Adam Lind was obviously trying to show up the Sox (and your pastor)… c’mon! you gotta have his back.

funny you say this because I tagged Mark Driscoll in a Joba picture a year and a half ago that said “Mark Driscoll is on my fantasy baseball team.”

Erik, we love our Past-a…it must be difficult for him, not only to be a bible believing follower of Jesus Christ and pastor in the bluest of blue states, but to be a Sox fan in the heart of Yankee Universe. However, everyone keeps this in its proper perspective so its all good, we love him.
BTW…just picked up “For Us and Our Salvation” by Stephen Nichols…I agree with you, this guy is great…only he can make a discussion of first century heresies informative, funny and entertaining. Praying for you and your church always. Bill
