The caretakers have obviously fallen asleep and KJV-Only guy is playing with matches.
Pastor Marc Grizzard is going to be burning contemporary translations of the Bible on Halloween. He thinks that the translations are heretical and demonic:
“We are burning books that we believe to be Satanic,” Grizzard said.
Right….We are burning the Satanic books like the Bible.
In addition to the Bible he’ll be torching books by Billy Graham and Rick Warren.
Apparently it is a big deal; he is bringing in his whole church for the act. According to FoxNews:
On Halloween night, Grizzard and the 14 members of the Amazing Grace Baptist Church will set fire to other versions of the scripture, as well as music and books by Christian authors.
Hey, Grizz’ there may be a reason that your church is the size of an average Mormon family. I know this is supposed to be a social event but you might be alone here. And if folks come they may not be laughing with you but at you.
This type of thing is just so ridiculous. Anyone else find it ironic that the church’s name is ‘Amazing Grace’?
Can you imagine what one of his sermons is like? I think I have an idea.
Another embarrassing Christian headline on FoxNews. Thanks KJV-only guy. Feel free to go away now.
(If you are looking for good resources on this type of stuff James White’s book is great.)

They “are burning books that (they) believe to be Satanic.”
How about people? Marc Grizzard might qualify.
Yeah, I too found it ironic.
It was also interesting to see what other names were on the list.
I became a Christian in an Independant Baptist church, I know all to well how these people are. I remember preaching from the pulpit calling so called “Calvinist’s” “Heretics” and just plain evil. I feel sad for this guy, he obviously hasn’t really grabbed onto the whole idea of “Grace”.
Man, just pray for this guy to have his eye’s opened and have the hardness of his heart softened by the God of all grace and mercy…..
As a North Carolinian, myself, I fear not only the impact on Christian testimony, but also the image of my fellow state citizens. However, spiritually speaking, I wonder one thing: Does Grizzard use the REAL KJV, as it was published in 1611? Or does he use the bastardized revision of 1769? If the latter, what case can he make against later translations?

Isn’t this a bit logically inconsistent?
Shouldn’t his congregation instead, if he holds to this, just learn the original languages and only read their greek and hebrew bibles-because translation is an abhoration!?
So sad that he is so enslaved to legalism and that he is not only leading that small congregation astray by giving them a new law that they cannot keep and which isn’t Christ, but he is also defaming Christ’s name before a public eye.
It is a convicting reminder too to examine my heart and ask if theres anything I take too far, in Christ’s name, to Christ’s dishonor?
Chris, I believe they use a later version, but I can’t remember which one. It’s so disgusting really. Not only does it make the rest of us look stupid, but it’s just not even logical. KJV only, but not the original KJV! And burning Bibles? Awesome…really…awesome.
