The pastoral staff from Omaha Bible Church is down here in lovely Orlando enjoying some time of refreshment around the word of God. The speakers at the pastors’ conference, Sinclair Ferguson, Steve Lawson and RC Sproul promise to provide a consistent message of God-Centered, Gospel-boasting preaching, albeit from various accents (Sproul from Pittsburgh, Fergeson from Scotland and Lawson from Alabama)…we may need an interpreter at times.
I was able to talk to Dr Sproul for a moment and he affirmed his unyielding support for the Reformation cries. Go ahead and throw up your fives, everyone is doing it.

Affirmation once again that Calvinists know how to have fun. He had some funny stories to tell about CJ Majaney at T4G ’08.
I think you’ve started a movement, Erik.
Please explain “throwing up your fives”…. The five points of Calvinism??? I feel so ignorant, and it looks like such fun!
That may be the coolest thing I’ve ever seen. It beats my photo of me and Jay Adams here: http://gairneybridge.reformedblogs.com/2007/07/07/frp-famous-reformed-photos/
I love this photo! RC looks young and like he’s lost some pounds! We go to the Ligonier conference in March every year! It’s great fun and he is really funny! He especially loves to laugh at himself! Ha ha-thanks for sharing!
That looks great, mate! Gotta say I quite envy that you got a photo with Dr. Sproul — he’s one of my favorite teachers. Have to agree with Reegz above; Dr. Sproul is indeed looking younger and much lighter.
Thanks for sharing.
Soli deo Gloria!
I actually have a bit of an issue with the whole “throwing up your fives” idea. This gives the impression that the five points of Calvinism or the five solas were the only important issues in the Reformation – granted the most important, but it must not be forgotten that the scope was much broader, including not only doctrine but also practice.
Biblical church government and biblical administration of the sacraments were key issues and this, for the very reason that these actually are for the preservation of sound doctrine. Teaching and admonishing one another with the word of Christ in song (the psalms) was a key issue again for the very reason of preserving sound doctrine (Colossians 3:16). To neglect these is not a small thing at all. I recommend this book by Calvin on the subject of the necessity of Reformation – http://www.swrb.ab.ca/newslett/actualNLs/NRC_ch01.htm
It is the five solas of the Reformation: Scripture alone, faith alone, grace alone, Christ alone, and glory to God alone. Google it and you can learn more!
I knew it!!!! I knew RC was hip!
Hey Erik,
Did you know I am from Orlando? Glad you guys had a good time.

R. C. flashing gang signs. Classic!
that was cool you got to meet and talk to and RC Sproul
I wish and RC Sproul or Norm Geisler would speak sometime here in Omaha cause they are both great teachers
J,
Cool for R.C. to come, right there with ya. That would indeed be great. Geisler though?? Come on bro…I have a hard time respecting a man who essentially believes in libertarian free will and who wrote a book against R.C.’s “Chosen By God.” See his book “Chosen But Free” – not! I can handle R.C.’s preterism before stomaching that
Bring on R.C.
Did it occur to anyone else that Sproul here seems to be giving only 4 of the 5 fingers? Maybe it is an old athletic injury or from writing so many books on Calvinism…not sure, but he might get confused for a 4 pointer.
When is the conference in orlando??? What is his stand on the tribulation and the place of Jews as Gods favorite people……thank you sharon b.
