How to Live a Miserable Christian Life

A couple of years ago I wrote a series of posts on how you as a Christian could be absolutely miserable.  The tone of the articles was intentionally sarcastic for the sake of making a point clearly.  Over the years the series has been widely read.

Recently I noticed that Monergism.com has put the first article (of 4) on one of their homepage.  Since then the traffic has, as you could imagine, really picked up.  As a result I wanted to put this post on here that catalogs all of these posts for easy review.

If you are new to this site perhaps you would check these out as well.  These are sarcastic axioms that I regularly retreat to in order to calibrate my own affections with what is revealed and desired by God Himself.  (in addition, the pictures represent far more attention to detail than I currently maintain, I am somewhat ashamed of myself).

Here are the links and the points…

Glad you are getting more readers! It’s just what we all want, miserable lives. Not really but you would sure think it to look at some of us.

  2. Erik – thank for these great truths. I love them all.

Hello! I found your blog via another one: (Titus2Talk) and what a great read! I loved reading your series on ‘How to live a miserable Christian life’ Excellent stuff! I left the page open on the computer last night as I went to bed in the hope that my husband might..just might…notice :) I am ever hopeful of my husband coming back to the Lord. I’m praying hard that he might read your blog. I enjoy expository preaching and teaching very much but have to rely on pod-casts for this as my church is lacking in this area…yet again another major area for prayer in my life. Anyhoo…I digress! I just wanted to say Thank-you for a very informative and truthful read, God bless you!

(Oh and the ice mary post gave me a grand laugh!)

Erik – I was listening to Way of the Master Radio and I noticed Todd Friel read these points on the show on July 29th. Link http://www.wayofthemasterradio.com/podcast/2008/07/29/july-29-2008-hour-2/ . I was surprised and glad when I heard him mention your name as the originator. I thank God that He has provided such great biblical teaching in Omaha. – Jason P. (OBC North Regular)

Erik, Thanks for coming to NC to speak in chapel. It was a blessing….and thanks for the radio interview. I read “How to live a miserable Christian life” this morning. I hope you don’t mind but I made copies for my senior Bible students. I just think they need this in their hands. Again, Thanks.
