Team Hoyt

I received a link to this video the other day and was pretty moved. I guess it happened a year or so ago. The Hoyts compete in triathlons together. Let me remind you that this is 26.2 miles of running, 112 miles of bicycling, and 2.4 miles of swimming. Together they have climbed mountains, and once trekked 3,735 miles across America.

I am not sure of their spiritual background or why this song is playing on the video, but nevertheless the video makes me think of this love that Mr Hoyt has for his son and the coming redemption of our sinfully plagued flesh. In short, this video reminded me to ‘groan’ in the Romans 8 sense.

So watch the video and be impressed with image bearers loving and serving one another.

   This video has circulated for some time now, and it never looses its tug on the heart. One of the greatest illustrations I have seen.

   Erik;

   Dick Hoyt is a hero in these parts for his continued dedication and perseverance to his son Rick. I had the privilege of witnessing them come across he finish line of the Boston Marathon over 25 years ago. Dick is in his 60′s now. I believe they get much more applause than the victors do. One must have a heart of stone to not weep at the sight of them passing by.

   If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!

   Thanks for posting this. I agree with you, Chuck, that you would have to have a heart of stone not to be moved by this. I think the video itself is enough to do me in, but then hearing “I know my Redeemer lives” just puts me away.
