When the Roman Catholics feel a need to publicly correct the theology of their own politicians, you can be sure we have reached new levels of redefining theology for political purposes. Paul's resolve is certainly "incessant, unflinching" but he was a human being just like us. This is the same Paul of Rom. 7 and 2 Cor. 4. I can bring my propensity to "not do the good I want to do" in my clay jar to the foot of the cross and stand with an abiding, weak confidence there.
